Lia's Girl Scout Day Camp

After getting home from our trip to Florida Monday night at 11:30 p.m. and getting to bed at midnight, we were all up bright and early on Tuesday morning thanks to being on Florida time.  As tired as we all were, I was able to get Lia up and ready and out the door by 8:30 for her first day of Girl Scout camp.  Although she had missed the first day of this 5-day camp, she was able to slide right into the thick of things due to being in a unit with five other girls from her troop.  Plus, with the exception of last year when her troop decided to try out a different camp in Graham, Lia has been going to this camp every summer since her Kindergarten year...so it feels like home!  Like every other summer, Lia had the time of her life singing, crafting, building, rock climbing, and cooking with the other Girl Scouts in her troop.  She loved staying for the "late night" on Wednesday and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with all of the PAs (the older girls who help out with camp all week long).  She can't wait to be a PAT next summer (a PA in training) and has already picked out her camp name that she will get to use instead of her real name which is a privilege only given to these older girls.  Although I don't think I will be lucky enough to find a Daisy troop for Ella this coming Fall, I am seriously considering paying the extra money to send her to camp with Lia next summer as a non-Girl Scout.  How fun would that be to have these two sisters finally attending the same camp after Lia going alone for six years?!

We carpooled Tuesday and Wednesday with Lia's good friend, Sienna, and her little sister, Aria.  Here are all three girls on Tuesday morning.

Sienna requested a "big girl" picture after taking one with her little sister.  It's hard to believe that these girls have been friends since PreK.

We carpooled Thursday and Friday with Lia's other good friend in the troop, Mollie, and her little sister, Gabs.  These girls have also been friends since PreK.

I was able to download a few pictures from the camp website that Lia was in.  Here is Lia standing with the rest of her troop in the afternoon when they always meet in the amphitheater before camp ends for the day.

Lia's name was actually drawn one of the days from the huge bowl of names of every child attending camp.  She was most excited to come on down...

and pick out her own box of GS cookies!!

Lia's unit was able to participate in a survival skills hike one day when they had the chance to "rescue" several PAs who were scattered around the forest with life-threatening injuries.  Here is Lia and the rest of the girls from her troop carrying a girl back to camp on a stretcher they made.
