Logan's Birthday Weekend

Although Logan's birthday was on Saturday this year, we did something in honor of his birthday for the past three days to celebrate.  Here is the breakdown of Logan's birthday weekend...

Since there wasn't school on Logan's actual birthday, he brought in cupcakes on Friday, February 9th, to share with his class.  Here is Logan standing next to the red, white, and black cupcakes I made for his class.  Logan was able to put the pirate flags into the top of the cupcakes before he passed them out to his classmates.

Ella and I checked into school with Logan so that we could help him deliver the cupcakes to his teacher before class started.

We started off the morning of Logan's actual birthday yesterday by eating waffles with whipped cream and strawberries in the dining room.  Here is Logan listening to us sing "Happy Birthday."

We then hosted Logan's friend party yesterday during the afternoon and had a great time.  Since we were hosting my family for dinner tonight for Logan's family party, I declared that I was not making dinner last night.  As a result, Ron went out and picked up McDonald's for the kids and Taco Bus for us.  Here is Logan eating his McDonald's dinner.

I decided it would best if Logan separated the opening of his friend gifts and his family gifts. As a result, he had to wait until Sunday, February 11th, to open up all of the gifts that have been wrapped and waiting in the living room for the past week.  After coming home from church today, we let Logan open up a few, special gifts before his family party tonight.  Logan started off by opening up three gifts from Aunt Austin and Uncle Robbie.  It is a tradition in their family to give one "big gift" to all of their nieces and nephews once during their childhood.  We decided that this would be the year for Logan and so he received three wonderful gifts from them--the first boy doll ever made by American Girl whose name is actually Logan along with one of his outfits and a scooter.  Here is Logan opening up Logan.

Logan has been asking for this doll ever since he was released a year ago.  He was so excited when he opened up this gift!  Here he is admiring his new toy.

I decided that Logan should also be able to open up the two gifts we gave him to go with his Logan doll--a tent with two, sleeping bags and a camping set.  Here is Logan (and Ella) opening up the tent.

After a long afternoon of waiting for Logan (and a long afternoon of cooking for me), we started off the family party with a large buffet dinner!  My parents and Chris' family joined us for the festivities.  Here is everyone serving up dinner.

After dinner, Logan opened up the rest of our gifts along with gifts from his grandparents, Lola, and Chris's family.  Here is Logan opening up the gift from his grandparents.

Logan got a second set of magnet tiles from my parents to go with his set that he received at Christmas.  He was so excited as he has kept on running out of tiles while trying to build his creations since he first got them at Christmas.

We ended the evening with some cake and ice cream.  Here is a picture of the cake I made for Logan with an edible, pirate image on top.

After all of the dishes had been washed and everyone had gone home, I finally made it upstairs to find this adorable scene of the birthday boy in his bedroom--Logan fast asleep surrounded by a circle of blankets.  I just thought it was the cutest thing, so I had to take a few pictures of my sleeping boy.

My 6-year old boy off in dreamland.  Love you to the moon and back, Logan!  I am so glad that you joined our family six years ago.  What a joy and a blessing you have been to us!
