After a week of homeschool and hosting a party on Friday night and trick-or-treating on Saturday night, I was looking forward to a "day off" on Sunday before putting on Ron's birthday on Monday evening. However, after he requested that we move up his birthday celebrations to Sunday so that he could enjoy his special day on a nonwork day, I didn't have the heart to say "no." As a result, I picked up my tired bones today and powered through wrapping gifts and making him a dinner and dessert. As exhausted as I was by this evening when the last dish was washed and all of the mess was cleaned up, I was glad that we celebrated today so that Ron could enjoy the freedom to have a slow morning at home and to watch a Seahawks game in the afternoon. We enjoyed eating a steak dinner in the living room with banana cream pie for dessert and watching Ron open up his cards and gifts in the living room. His big present had to be getting a brand new snowboard as he bought his old one in Japan twenty years ago. Needless to say, he is very excited to hit the slips this winter and try it out!
Logan and Ella had fun wrapping a few other gifts of "things" they found around the house. Here is daddy opening up a gift from Ella.
Emmy had fun riding around on his Radio Flyer while Ron opened up his gifts.
Logan wrapped up a "Best Dad Ever" trophy that he had made out of magnetic tiles. Here he is showing off his awesome creation after Ron opened it up.
The kids watching Ron read our card to him.
Papa and his brood gathered around the banana cream pie before we sang "Happy Birthday" to him.
