Logan's 12th Birthday Weekend

We just wrapped up Logan's 12th birthday weekend!  It's hard to believe that my little boy is now 12-years old, but he has turned into such a pleasant, funny, interesting, helpful, and thoughtful young man, that I guess that I can't be sad that he is growing up.  We celebrated his birthday three days in a row with the birthday breakfast and friend party on Logan's actual birthday (Saturday), the family party on Sunday, and Logan bringing homemade brownies to share with his class on Monday.  Overall, I think Logan had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed all of treats, gifts, and celebrating.  I hope he knows how much we love him and what a special boy he is!  Here is a quick run through of his birthday weekend...

February 10th:
Since Logan's birthday fell on a Saturday, we enjoyed a more leisurely morning before Logan had to leave for his 10 o'clock basketball game.  Here are Ella and Emmett standing next to Logan before eating his birthday waffles.

We invited over five of Logan's closest friends to join him for a party on Saturday evening.  Unfortunately, one of them (Anthony) got sick and had to cancel, but Logan still had a great time with the other four friends.  The boys were so nice and let Emmett join in on everything.  Before the group ate dinner, Logan wanted to show them some of his magic, card tricks.  This evolved into the boys playing several card games while sitting in a circle on the floor.

Sadly, I had to interrupt the boys from their card playing to start eating dinner since we had a schedule to stick to for the evening.  Emmett got to sit in the chair where Anthony would have sat and had a great time eating and talking with the big boys.  At Logan's request, I served hot dogs, carrot sticks, apple slices, and Ruffles potato chips with root beer.

We then served chocolate cupcakes and ice cream for dessert.  Here is Logan blowing out candles for the second time that day.

Silly Logan posing for me with his spoon in his mouth while enjoying his dessert.

The boys then moved back into the family room for some gift opening.  Both Ella and Emmett were very interested in all of Logan's gifts.

A group pic of the boys before heading off for the next 2.5 hours with Ron to drive to Tacoma to play laser tag.  Luckily, Emmett was just barely old enough to participate in this game which made him so happy.  Although I asked Ron to take a few pictures at the laser tag place, he unfortunately forgot.  So, this group photo was the last one that I got of Logan's friend party.

February 11th:
After I spent 6.5 hours driving to and from Everett to attend Ella's, 4-hour gymnastics meet in the morning, I returned home about 1:30 in the afternoon to get ready to host Logan's family party on Super Bowl Sunday.  Luckily, I was able to take an hour nap which helped give me enough energy to get through the second half of the day.  We hosted Chris' family and my parents for another dinner of Logan's choice:  meat and cheese nachos with all of the toppings, chicken bakes, Caesar salad, deviled eggs, fruit platter, and root beer and fruit punch for the drinks.  The kids enjoyed eating dinner in the kitchen...

while the adults ate in the dining room.

After dinner, Logan opened up his gifts from family.  Here he is about to open up a mini, recording device.

Proudly showing off his Alan Becker hoodie.

Emmett wearing Logan's new top hat that he asked for.  I have no idea where Logan got this idea, but he was so excited when he opened it up.

Another shot of Logan trying to blow out all twelve candles.  We all enjoyed eating the chocolate cake and chocolate buttercream frosting (that I made from scratch) with vanilla ice cream on the side.

The group photo I managed to take of Logan with his siblings and cousins before the party ended.  I sure love how close these six cousins are with each other and treasure the many memories that they have made during their childhood together.
Happy Birthday, Logan!
We love you and are so proud of the little man that you are becoming.
