Well, it happened! Our five-year old boy went snowboarding for the first time today! It's hard to believe since Lia was in 4th grade and Ella was in 2nd grade when they started skiing and Logan was in 3rd grade when he started snowboarding. So, Emmett is years ahead of our other children. Ron was determined to get him up on the slopes a few times this year so that we can reach the point in time (sooner than later) when we no longer have to ask for my parent's help in watching him whenever we go skoarding as as family. It took Ron over two months to find a reasonably priced snowboard, bindings, and boots since the used inventory is very limited on Facebook Marketplace and OfferUp for a set this small. But after checking daily for two months, he found a set for $200 while the girls and I were in Atlanta. So, he rushed off to buy ir and immediately asked when Logan and Emmett would be free to head to White Pass to give it a try. Since Emmett is so young, Ron thought that he would not be up for a full-day on the slopes on his first time like all of the other children. As a result, Ron decided to go camping for the weekend at a campground only an hour away from White Pass to help justify only taking Emmett up to the mountain for two hours. The boys went up after breakfast today and spent time at two of the three magic carpets from about 11:30 to 1:30. For the most part, Logan stayed at the top of the magic carpet and Ron stayed at the bottom. Ron would send Emmett up to Logan who would help get him off the magic carpet and situated at the top of the hill. Logan would then push Emmett down to Ron who was waiting at the bottom to catch him and then send him back up to Logan again. Their system worked out quite nicely and Emmett had the time of his life balancing on his little snowboard as he slid down the little hill. Ron realized that since Emmett is so young, his legs are not really strong enough to learn how to carve at all this year. As a result, Emmett will not progress past the magic carpet this season, but it was fun to get him up on the mountain for the first time and he LOVED every minute of it! Hopefully, I will be able to go up with the boys at least one time this winter to see my cute snow bunny boarding down the beginner hill!
