Annual Winter Trip to Priest Lake

We just returned from our annual, winter trip to Priest Lake with my entire family.  All 27 people were able to go this year which made for a very full cabin.  Although there was only 1 to 2 inches of snow on the ground this year, we managed to make the most of it and get out of the cabin once each day for some outside play.  Although the snow level was a disappointment, we still had a great time bonding with family and were grateful to have this chance to all be together.  Here is a quick rundown of our five days away...

December 28th:
After driving up to the cabin, we arrived before dinner.  After dinner and dishes, we all gathered around the Christmas tree to open cousin gifts.  Here is Emmett showing off his gifts (a coloring book and game) from Riley.

Logan holding up his Amazon gift card from Trenton.

Ella showing her fake nails from Sarah.

And Lia holding up her journal and lip gloss from Vivi.

December 29th:
Although the sledding was not great on the road outside our cabin, Ron and I took the three younger kids and Trenton to find some better sledding elsewhere.  We found a decent hill off of the main road where we spent a good hour sledding.

And running back up the hill to do it again!

The four cousins pose for a picture, surrounded by beautiful trees covered in snow.

The Hartland fam, minus Lia who was back sick at the cabin with an awful cold.

After spending an hour at the first hill, we drove to the epic sledding run at Canoe Point that runs down the longest driveway known to man.  Although it wasn't as good as the other hill, we went down it three times.  Here is Emmett flying past me.

A darling picture I took of Emmett after he finished his run.

All of the girls enjoyed painting several times throughout the week.  Here is Lia with Kelsey, Vivi, and Callie.

There were many games played throughout the week, too.  Here is Ella with Aunt Rebecca and several cousins playing a giant-sized version of Trouble.

Ella and Emmett LOVED playing a lot with baby Emileigh who is now 1.5 years old.

December 30th:
We took Brynn and Kelsey with us back to our sledding hill on the second morning that we were there.  We spent another fun hour or so playing on this hill.  Here are all five cousins posing together.

The kids enjoyed going on lots of tandem and double-decker runs this morning.  Here is Emmett riding down the hill on Logan's back.

Here go the boys!

After sledding, we came back to the cabin for lunch and a group picture since grandma realized that this will be the last time that our family is all together for at least three years (with Riley and then Lia going on missions).  Here are the grandparents with all of 14 of their grandchildren, two spouses of grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

All 27 people in my family.

December 31st:
We started off the morning with the traditional, Polar Plunge dip that has been going on for ten years at the cabin.  This is the first time that two of my children have participated.  Here is the group before running into the freezing cold water.

An impromptu sibling and mother photo we took as everyone was leaving the beach.

After returning to the cabin from the Polar Dip, I convinced Ron, Lia, and Emmett to go on a walk with me in the woods.  Here are Emmett and Lia posing together in front of some beautiful trees.

We spent New Years Eve playing several fun group games that Rebecca provided before blowing off some fireworks and drinking sparkling cider (at 9 p.m. instead of midnight).  Here is Ella playing a game against Riley.
