This little guy of ours just keeps on getting older and bigger every months! It's killing me to see how fast the time is going. Today our little Emmett Keller turned 15 months old and he is sure starting to act more like a toddler and less like a baby every day. We all can't get over how much fun he is becoming and just find such joy in all of his changes and the progress that he is making. Emmett is still such a happy baby and makes us laugh and smile every day. He has started doing some fun things this past month. After watching us, he started picking up pens and pencils and drawing on paper all by himself. It was such a fun surprise to see him do this for the first time. He also discovered how to take the caps off of the kids' markers and so we are now required to chase him around the house on a daily basis to grab a marker back from him before he writes on the walls, floors, furniture, etc. Emmett also started feeding us his food as a fun little game to play with us. He will randomly pick up a piece of food from his high chair tray and hold it up to one of us when we are feeding him. As cute as it is, it isn't the funnest thing to eat a soggy Cheerio covered in Emmett's slobber. :-) With the return of the warm weather and the kids being home full-time due to the Coronavirus pandemic, Emmett was introduced to the backyard this past month and he LOVES it! As a result, he always makes a mad dash for the door whenever we are coming in or out of the house. He normally is quite sad when he doesn't get the chance to go outside and is absolutely thrilled when we take him out with us. Emmett also experienced two "firsts" this past month--his first time on the baby swing in the backyard and his first bike ride on the back of papa's bike. Since he loves the outdoors, he absolutely loves both of these activities and has enjoyed multiple times on the swing and rides on the bike. Emmett also started saying "woah" and can be found saying it every time he is being pushed on his baby swing. He also started saying "doo doo" for the word, "thank you," which is what we have always taught our babies to say ever since Lia made it up when she was one year old. He also has started almost running as he walks really fast all over the house with a huge smile on his face. It's only a matter of months before he is coordinated enough to be running around everywhere. Another cute and new thing that happened this past month is that Emmett chose his favorite blanket. As with our three older children, he simply started picking up the same blanket from his crib when we pick him up in the morning or after a nap. It is the softest blanket of the few that I keep in his crib all the time, so it is no surprise to me that this blanket is the "chosen one." Emmett has also started throwing serious tantrums when items are taken away from him. He definitely has no problem letting us know how he feels whenever this happens to him. Emmett still eats like a champ and has liked every single food item we have put on his high chair tray with the exception of tomatoes. He eats and eats and eats with every single meal and only stops when we stop feeding him. He continues to take two naps a day and has slept well at night this past month! It has been so wonderful after a rough fall and early winter. He either sleeps through the entire night (hooray!) or only needs his pacifier plugged in once or twice a night. When he does need his pacifier, he never cries anymore when I leave his bedroom which is such a massive relief. And that is our Emmy Bemms in a nutshell! We just love him to pieces!
