Bottoms Up!

Ever since Logan figured out how to roll over onto his tummy, this has been a familiar sight in his crib.  It still gives me a bit of a heart attack when I find him sleeping like this, but the pediatrician promises me that he'll be okay.  Gulp.

Desperately Seeking Sunshine

It's been no secret that this month has been the third, rainy, cold, and miserable June in a row in the Western half of our state.  We Washingtonians are fed up with these pathetic springs and the fact that they have been eating away at our precious summers!  Enough is enough.  Well, today, the sun finally decided to make us all happy and show her pretty face bringing beautiful, blue skies, a light breeze, and weather in the mid 70s.  Hallelujah.  After spending the morning at the park, we returned home for lunch and Logan's afternoon nap.  Being extremely deprived of some Vitamin D, Lia asked if she could just eat her lunch on our doorstep so that she could soak up some more sunshine while munching away.  I happily agreed and helped her get all set up for her meal in the doorway.  Pictured above is the priceless scene I found a few minutes later.  Talk about a content girl.

Designer Skin

Recently, Lia has fallen in love with the sequel to The Little Mermaid which describes the adventures of Ariel's daughter, Melody.  We read the book almost nightly and check out the movie from the library almost weekly.  As a result, Lia has become fascinated with Melody and the fact that she does not have her mother's bright, red hair.  This led us to have the following conversation:
Lia:  "Mom, why doesn't Melody have red hair?"
Me:  "Well, she got her black hair from her papa, Prince Eric."
Lia:  "Why?"
Me:  "You see, everyone gets some qualities from their mama and some from their papa.  For example, you got papa's dark hair and my blue eyes and fair skin.  You got my eyes because they are blue and papa's eyes are brown.  You got my skin because my skin is peach and papa's skin is brown."
Lia:  "Yes, with designs on it."

I don't think that tattoos have ever been described in a cuter, more feminine way!  Only a girl who lives in a world full of princesses, fairies, tiaras, sparkles, rainbows, and unicorns could come up with something like this.  Oh, that Lia.  She just keeps me laughing.

The peach skin gets up close and personal with the brown skin with "designs on it."

Look who found his toes?!

LOGAN DID!!
That's right.  Our little boy discovered his toes yesterday while laying on the changing table.
It's just the cutest thing.

Although he isn't grabbing his toes in this picture, I had to include it due to the sweet smile on his face!

Inaugural Bike Ride

We kicked off the summer season tonight with our first family-of-four bike ride to a park in a nearby neighborhood.  It was Logie's first time behind a bike and our first time trying out our new bike trailer that Ron found at a garage sale last month.  With the exception of a few cries here and there, Logan did pretty well and even fell asleep on our way out.  Lia loved being all snug up next to her brother in the trailer until she started complaining that her "stomach hurt" and opted to ride in her old bike seat attached to Ron's bicycle.  Who knows what that meant.  Regardless, we had a pleasant ride through some neighborhoods, enjoying each other's company and a nice, summer evening.  Here's hoping for many more evenings like tonight.

My Dapper Dude

After rescheduling Logan's four-month pictures two times due to a nasty scratch that he gave himself on the cheek, we finally made it into the studio yesterday for a quick photo shoot.  I couldn't get over what a little, dapper man he looked like all decked out in his argyle vest, slacks, and dress shoes.  Such a cutie that boy is.  Here are my favorites below...

Father's Day Gifts

Well, we wrapped up Father's Day yesterday with some gift opening and Ron's presents were as different and as varied as possible.  Allow me to break them down for you:

While I was wrapping Ron's gifts before dinner, Lia declared that she wanted to do the same.  She quickly ran into her room and scrounged up a few items that she was sure that papa would love.  One gift had three dolls inside--including Dora.  Another gift was a red, velvet box full of some of her favorite, "tiny treasures" (Snow White Squinkies and princess rings included).  Her father couldn't have been more pleased.

Not to be outdone by his big sister, Logan pulled through in the gift department with flying colors by rolling over for the first time while laying on our bed Father's Day morning!  After that, there was no stopping him as he basically spent the entire day rolling over everywhere we put him from his crib to the changing table to the floor to even his bouncy chair (yikes!) during dinner!

I, on the other hand, was by far the most boring gift-giver of the day.  No Dora doll.  No rolling over.  Just two work shirts and a belt.  What ever was I thinking?!

Question of the Day:
Is this the beginning of a long lasting relationship?

Play Date...Under the Deck?!

Lia and I woke up to beautiful weather and nothing on the calendar today, so we decided to invite her friend, Kaylee, over for a few hours this morning.  The girls were in and out of the house several times to play on the swing set or in the clubhouse, but the funniest thing was when I went outside to check on them and found them under our deck.  Yes, you read right, under the deck.  I always stow a couple of Lia's bigger toys under there for the rainy, winter months when she doesn't play outside.  Since I hadn't gotten around yet to pulling them out for the summer season, the girls decided to crawl under the deck instead!  I just thought it was the silliest thing to find them "cruising along" together in the red and yellow car underneath the shadow of the deck.  Oh those girls...what will they think of next?

Four-Months Old Today!

Well our boy turned four-months old today!  That's officially one-third through his first year of life!  Amazing.  Logan has continued to be a good baby who eats and sleeps well.  He takes a short morning nap and a very long afternoon nap each day and is still sleeping through the night (thank heavens).  People still constantly comment on his large size and chubby cheeks.  He weighed exactly 18 pounds at his 4-months doctor's appointment which puts him in the 91st percentile.  (He was also still in the 93rd percentile for length).  Logan has continued with some fun and adorable developments this past month.  He has officially laughed four different times!  Of course, Ron has gotten three of the four laughs by blowing "zerberts" into Logan's neck/chin area.  It's just the cutest thing.  Logan has also discovered his voice this past month and just "talks" all the time--he no longer needs someone in his face to initiate it.  He has also discovered his hands and sucks on them quite frequently and also grabs onto the spindles of his changing table and bassinet.  He is starting to hold onto the toys hanging from his car seat and kick the toys hanging from his bouncy chair.  He tries to roll over a lot (especially when in his bouncy chair), but hasn't quite figured it out yet.  Logan is starting to recognize familiar and unfamiliar people.  He loves his parents, sister, and grandma and easily gives them smiles, but is starting to be a little wary of the rest of the world.  That's our boy in a nutshell (that is, if he could fit in one)!

Vivi's Big Day and a Few Other Things...

Today my entire family got together to celebrate Vivi's 8th birthday and to attend her baptism.  Since my brother and his family drove out from Montana, we decided to make a day out of it and then spent the afternoon and evening at my parents' house for dinner and then an early Father's Day celebration.  As always, Lia had the time of her life running around with all of her girl cousins.  In addition, it was nice to be able to finally introduce Logan to his Missoula aunt and uncle and cousins.  It was a glorious day!  I just love being with my family.

Singing "Happy Birthday" to Vivi!

No family gathering is complete without at least one coloring/crafting/creating activity with the girls.  Lia is now old enough that she loves being apart of it!  Here are the "triplets" and Lia working on their latest project in Vivi's family room.

Gift opening time!

After the birthday festivities, we all got ready to attend Vivi's baptism at their church in North Bend.  Here is angelic Vivian in her beautiful baptism dress.  I can't believe that she is eight years old.  Where did the time go?

My entire family (minus Ron who was working at his high school's graduation), plus some members of Rebecca's family outside the church after the baptism.

I remember when...

Lia was about four months old and she started drooling all the time.  A bib became a permanent accessory to every outfit she wore--morning, noon, or night.  Well, it looks like the time has arrived for Logan to do the same as this slobbery, wet mess (complete with a bubble beard and all) is what I found on his sweet face tonight.  All I've got to say is it's time to break out the bibs!

Look who finally weighs 40 pounds

AND moved into a booster seat today!
Lia is thrilled beyond measure to be "rolling" the big-girl way!

And just for fun, the seat belt came off and the funny faces came out!

We sure do love our silly, 40-pound girl!
