Lia's Recognition Awards Assembly

For the third time since Lia started school, we received a letter in the mail stating that she had been chosen by her teacher to receive a student recognition award for demonstrating respectful, safe, and responsible behavior in class.  Lia's school only holds this assembly three times a year and each teacher only selects three students to be recognized at each assembly...so it is quite an accomplishment to be chosen.  Luckily, since Ron was already off work for his school break, he was able to join Ella and me for the assembly today.  I also arranged to pull Logan out of his class so that he could join us, but he decided that he wanted to go back after the first few minutes of the assembly because he didn't want to "miss out on anything."  Oh, that silly boy.
Since the letter always asks the parents to keep it a surprise, Lia found out moments before the assembly started that she had been chosen to be one of the recipients.  So, it was fun to see her surprised face when she walked into the gym and saw the four of us sitting there and cheering her on.  We enjoyed watching Lia receive her award along with the other 5th graders in her school and are so proud of what a wonderful, well behaved, and conscientious student she has always been since she started school so many years ago!  We love you, Lia!

Lia waving to us as she walked into the gym wearing her Elf-on-the-Shelf pajamas (yes, it was pajama day).

Listening to the principal talk at the beginning of the assembly.

Another shot of my long-legged girl while waiting for her name to be called.

Proudly showing off her award.

After the assembly was over, we were able to meet Lia in the foyer behind the gym to congratulate her.  Here she is showing off her certificate.

Since Logan insisted on going back to class early, this is the best we got for a "sibling picture."  Here is sweet Ella posing with our beaming Lia.
