Logan stayed busy this spring running on two different track teams. Just like last year, he ran with his elementary school team that is for any 5th and 6th grader who wants to attend practices twice a week in April and May and run in a district-wide track meet that was held today at Sparks Stadium downtown. Logan ran the 100 meter dash and also in the 4x100 meter relay. In addition, I also signed up Logan to run with the South Hill Running Club to give him two extra days of practice each week. This running club is run by one of the mothers of Logan's good friend, Kasen. Although there are four meets in the region that his running club attends, Logan was only able to go to one of them this past Saturday, June 1st, at Lake Washington High School in Kirkland. Since we knew that this meet would last for hours with a 2-hour, round trip drive, Ron opted to go with Logan so that I could stay home with the other three kids to get them to and from their Saturday activities. I was so grateful that we decided to do this as Ron and Logan were gone for nine hours! Regardless, Logan did a great job and ran in the 200 meter, 800 meter, and the 4x100 relay. I am so grateful for these running experiences that Logan has been able to have this spring as he prepares to enter the world of XC and track at the junior high school level next year. Way to go, Logan! We are so proud of you!

Logan's Spring Track Meets
June 1st:
Logan lining up at the starting line for the 800 meter run.
Getting ready to go.
Logan running to the finish line at the end of the 800 meter. In my opinion, this is one of the most difficult events in track as it requires a runner to basically sprint for 1/2 mile. Logan did a great job and ran it in 2:56 which is the exact same time that Lia got at her last track meet in April. What a fun, sibling coincidence?! Logan came in 25th out of 44 runners.
He also ran the 200 meter in 32.04 and came in 28th place out of 55 runners. His 4x100 relay team ran their race in 1:01 and came in 4th out of 5 teams.
June 4th:
Logan approaching the finish line at the end of his 100 meter dash.
Logan crossing over the finish line.
Logan waiving to Emmett and me while waiting to get his time.
Logan ran the third leg in his relay. Here he is waiting for the second runner to approach him.
Logan taking off as Ryan approaches him with the baton.
And he's off!
Logan running as fast as he can past Ron, Emmett, and me. I just love the look of pure determination on his face!
Logan sprinting around the corner.
Logan's relay team came in third place out of all of the many 6th grade boys' heats that ran the 4x100. Here is Logan after his relay race was over sitting with the three other boys on his team.
